Treverbyn Community Hall would not exist without volunteers.

Whether you have existing specialist skills to bring to the charity or you would like to try new things we would love to hear from you. Whether it’s a day a week or an hour once a month we can be as flexible as you need us to be.

Our current roles for volunteering are with the Community larder and this could be anything from bag packing, bread sorting, supermarket collections, to deliveries and a drivers buddy. Other opportunities at The Hall will be changing as The Hall reopens following restrictions lifting on the 19th July, opportunities such as café/ kitchen, reception, admin, finance, marketing, meet and greet, gardening, events and maintenance.

We are currently in extra need of volunteers for the following areas:

  • Holiday Cover for our Community Larder volunteers
  • Events Organisation/Management
  • Press and Publicity
  • Youth Activities
  • Young volunteers to assist with the Youth Activities

People volunteer for many different reasons. Some of our team do so in order to improve employability and we are happy to provide plenty of individual help with this, others make friends, improve their confidence and like to make a contribution to their community.  Our volunteers are a very important part of our team and frequently comment on the sociable aspect of their involvement at the hall and enjoy getting to know new people.

Introducing Steve and Liz, two of our Community Larder volunteers.

Steve and liz“We are both recently retired and know how fortunate we are – we have a steady income, good health, and more free time than we have been used to! We know that hardship can strike anyone at any time. Asking for help can be daunting but we hope that by genuinely being able to empathise we can ease this feeling.

We wanted to volunteer in a way that allowed us to meet people, as we are both sociable and enjoy a good chat, and also have a positive impact on our local community.

The Food Larder allows us to do this – helping those in need and reducing food waste. Our reward is the smiles and thanks of those we see each week! ”

In 2019 Treverbyn Community Hall signed up for Tempo Time credits. The Time credits model is a national project rewarding volunteers with the gift of a time credit that can be spent on various activities, college courses and social events or simply gifted out to those in need.
