Greenspace 2022

The Greenspace Project is a great group for people who like being in the outdoors, making a difference in their community. We meet every Thursday morning on the village greenspace, opposite the Hall.  You can choose from a variety of activities, from making paths to planting trees. We also have lighter tasks available.

The group has procedures and guidelines for a Covid-safe working environment. You can enquire at the Hall about them, while the group leader will explain further during the sessions.

The Greenspace Project is a FREE group, open to everyone. We will provide all tools, equipment and training, but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The Habitat Creation Project was started after a climate and ecological emergency was declared by the UK Government in 2019. The habitat creation project addresses the eco emergency by empowering people in our community to help nature. This is a really important project as during Covid it became clear that nature, and being in green spaces, has never been so important to our mental health and well-being.

Since the project began we have provided a range of activities for residents of Treverbyn including helping them build and install bird & bat boxes, installing hedgehog houses and bee bricks, giving free talks about local wildlife and environmental issues and providing free trees and free garden advice to help residents make their gardens wildlife friendly. Throughout the parish, we are creating new wildlife spaces and wildlife connectivity by engaging with key businesses, schools, the parish council and others. We hope to create new habitat in Treverbyn for wildlife and increase local bio-diversity with community led nature initiatives.  By working together we can help lessen the impact of climate change on our wildlife and natural environment and increase resilience in our own homes and community spaces. If you want to be part of the next phase of the project please contact [email protected].
